I second the cory suggestion. They give you a good active fish for the bottom of the tank and they are a riot. I really like my albino corys. Show real well in the tank.

Going with the Atlantis look, eh? I like it. In any case, you might want a little more vegetation, as both angels and neons prefer a well-planted aqaurium. Also, the addition of a school of cories would be a welcome sight to any aquarium, especially if you're plec-less.

We're hoping for the best with the angel and neons

We just got the tank decorated last night, it should show up in this link:

I agree with Klee, watch out for the Angel as the Neons are its natural food\prey.

Like Theresa stated earlier, I'd keep an eye on the neons. The angel wll most likely become acclimated to their presence and leave the littuns alone. But then again, they might not.

We would have gone with cardinals, but at first we were only looking for fish for a 5 gal and so we got the neons. Plus, we haven't actually found any cardinals around here yet.

Why not go with Cardinal Tetras? IMO they are much better than neons Plus they have a lesser chance of getting NTD

Yeah, I would like to get up to 9 neons, I really like them. I just wanted to not put too many in too quickly.

My wife doesn't really like the algae eaters, so we'll probably get a snail (or two, or three, etc... ). I've been thinking about getting a few guppies, but I think that might get a little crowded before too long.

It would definitely be good to increase the number of neons if you don't have any problems between them and the angels.

If you plan to keep the danios in there you might be a bit tight for space to add anything else. Some sort of bottom feeder would be nice. Cories need to be in a school, BNs can be by themselves and do a great job with algae; they get to be about 4.5" or so.

We've got 6 zebra danios working the cycle in it right now, and we'll also add the 3 neons that are the current tankmates with the angel. We're hoping that since the angel and neons are getting along in the 5 gallon, that they will do well in the bigger tank and we'll be able to get at least another three to make a little neon school.
We don't know what else we're going to put in there after that, we're open to suggestions though

That's a very nice looking tank and stand

Personally I think it's a good deal for a kit-type setup; my husband paid close to that for my 29g kit and it did not include a stand.

I have a Penguin 125 on my 29g as well, I think they're good filters. I added a bubble wall because my husband thought it would look good and it ends up my fish really like it I really don't think you absolutely have to get one though.

Do you plan to add anything besides the angels?

Hi all!
We're so excited we just got a brand new 29 gallon tank over the weekend and just wanted to share! This is a bit of a step up from our 5 gallon and I'm sure our little angelfish will be very happy to get a non-stunting home
We have a couple questions though.
First, we didn't really shop around very much before we bought our tank. I looked on Ebay and the classifieds for used ones, but felt more confident in just buying a new one. So, we found our 29 for $125 (including lid/light and Geneva stand/cabinet). We felt it was a good deal, but I'm curious if it really was.
Second, right now we have a Penguin 125 running on it (the box says it's good up to 30 gallons), is this enough for oxygenation or do we need an air pump with a wand or stone in there as well?
Thanks!
Oh, here's a link to a pic of the tank and stand:

My in-laws had it. The Neon's lost their colour and it wriped out the whole shoal except for one. But it didn't put her off. She ended up buying more and now the lonely one has same friends to play with again.

We're only planning on putting the one angel in there. I didn't think a 29 would be big enough for 2 angels and the rest of the fish (6 zebra danios, 6-9 neons)
