Let it sit for 30-60 minutes, then wipe again and rinse several times with an overdose of dechlorinator. Another way I've handled it is to put in like a cup in and fill the tank (for 10g or less) and let it sit overnight, filled with the bleachy water. I would then add any other things to the tank I wanted to disinfect. I always let a tank and equipment that has been exposed to bleach air dry a few days just to be safe. Make sure it is not a special bleach with dyes, detergents or fragrances. If you have not had any known disease or parasites and just want a clean tank that is reasonably disinfected, then put a good cup of aquarium salt in it, fill it up with really hot water and let it sit overnight. |
