Hey ya'll. I currently have eight harlequin rasboras in a 29 gallon tank, along with a few co habitants. I had to strip the 10 gallon tank down and start over. I am planning a dwarf puffer tank. My question is, I am planning to cycle the tank using some of the razzies. How many should I transfer over there to do the job? I am thinking about four or five.

Cycling stock should be approx 1/3 of a fully stocked tank. Using harlies to cycle...hmmm well...if you keep a close eye on it. I'd suggest using a bacterial additive/use seeded filters or gravel from an established tank.

Babelfish,

Could you be so nice and explain where your hesitation comes from? I am planning on using Harlequin Rasboras to cycle my next tank as well and any input before it is too late would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ingo

I used harleys to cycle my big tank, as I knew I wanted them in there and the lfs guy said they are (and I have found them to be) quite hardy. The only problem arose when one tried swimmin under a stone and got stuck. I freed him and aside for swimming bent for a few hours till he straightened out, he was fine. :%):%)
