Hi. I hope someone can help me out. I've moved up from goldfish to swordfish and silverdollars. I've had them in the tank about 48 hours, and they seem pretty well acclimated to their surroundings.

Anyway, they won't eat. None of them. They seem otherwise healthy. I'm especially worried about the dollar, because I had heard that they ate nonstop.

I don't think its the food, but I've tried a couple of things. They don't seem to have any interest at all. My goldfish would always swim to the top whenever I held my hand above the tank, and these just don't care.

So, I was looking for suggestions. Thanks for any advice!

Can you tell us more about the tank?

Size of the tank, how many occupants, and how long it's been cycled. Ammonia, and nitrIte need to be zero and nitrAtes present for the tank to be properly cycled.
Fish sometimes take awhile to come around, even after a proper acclimation process of a few hours.

If everything in the tank is otherwise fine (temperature, ammonia, nitrite, etc.), I suspect it is just taking the fish a while to get used to the routine and the idea that you are the one feeding them. I've found that almost without exception new fish take a few days to get up to speed. It's likely nothing to worry about.

Thank you so much. All the levels and temperature are right; so I will just give it a few more days for them to figure it out.

I'm still feeding them (but scooping it out after it falls so it doesn't contaminate), so I guess they will come around.

Thanks again to everyone!

you still haven't said how big the tank is. sometimes fish won't eat if they feel crowded for space.
