	newbie with a question
erock Fingerling Posts: 27 Kudos: 23 Votes: 0 Registered: 18-Dec-2004	first off i wanted to say thanks for the thread on all that advice. seriously...that was awesome. i needed that for sure. the one question that i do have it this tho. we are wanting to do a cichlid tank. is it ok to put any other kinds of fish in with cichlids? or should i stick to cichlids? just curious. thanks a bunch. elizabeth

fish1 Banned Posts: 1727 Kudos: 1910 Votes: 58 Registered: 09-May-2004	Well it depense on the type of cichlids your are interested in. Dwarf cichlids such as rams can go with just about anything. Angels work out sometimes with smaller fish but are safest for you smaller fish in a different tank. Oscars on the other hand will eat all fish it can fit in its mouth. So you would have to get bigger fish such as silver dollars etc etc. African cichlids imo are best kept alone as they like a higher ph. ANd do best in groups. How big is the tank??? I added a juvenile betta, not very juvenile tho, and they were going for his face. So I had to move the tuxedos into another tank with a pair of breeding black angels. Now the tuxedoes are in trouble. So YES, what cichlids are you planning to keep.

I've kept kribs, angels, keyholes, festiums, Bolivian rams, German rams, and flag acaras in community tanks. People have had luck even with cichlids like firemouths and blue acaras. With the larger fish it depends on the size of tankmates. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean

super fish Small Fry Posts: 10 Votes: 0 Registered: 26-Dec-2004	well im not to good with chiclids, but i know that they are agressive. if it were me i would putin 20neons (7 male 13 female) 5 swordtails 3plocostums med 3 to 6 in. 4 silver mollies got any other suggestions ? BE PRE PARED FOR FRY (BABIES)
