How can you tell (all i've ever seen is "20gal" tanks....they don't specify...also, is one better than the other? Thanks! RObin Just to clear up any misunderstandings that I may/may not be dense: Guess i should have worded that differently. Should have said how is a 20L or 20T different in measurements than a 20 Gallon that is labeled only "20 gal".? [span class="edited"][Edited by dnrfleener 2004-08-27 15:33][/span] |

For instance, a 20 long wouldn't be a bad tank for your smaller bottom feeders, while a 20 tall would be better for an angelfish. To tell them apart, look closely at all the labels. If one says '20 long,' or '20 tall,' you will be able tell the difference between that and a regular 20 gallon tank. |

And people have said that can matter with surface area of the water providing oxygen for the fish... But as sirbrooks said, it all depends on the fish you want to know which is better. Thats my two cents. ![]() |

The 20 high is 24 inches long, I believe 18 high, and 10 or 12 front to back. Personally, I prefer the long for almost any situation - any fish that merits a 20H probably deserves a 29, which has the 20L's footprint plus some additional height. There's much better surface area on the 20L and it's got quite a bit more swiming room. -Molly Visit shelldwellers.com! |

Robin BTW Cyndie, I KNOW that "Long" means it will be taller than one that is "Tall" but i didn't know if there were any other differences, or if one is better than another. Nor have I ever seen one that was labeled different. All that I've ever seen is 29gallon. [span class="edited"][Edited by dnrfleener 2004-08-27 15:30][/span] |
