First we need to know what size tank it is and what the current occupants are.

Mollies and platies aren't schooling, but like company. If you'd want a male/female mix of either it's best to go with a ratio of at least 1M/2F.

Danios, white clouds, and tetras are schooling and should be kept in a group of at least six. Another colorful, very good schooler are harlequin rasboras.

Personally, I would go with the tetras. They are the most colorful, and are true schooling fish. They also produce very little waste.

However, as stated above, it depends on what size your tank is, and what fish are in it.

From my readings and ime danios are shoaling fish, not schooling.
None the less, they are great fish.

Danios are quite likely to nip @a betta.

For the rest of us 100 litres is approx. 25 US gallons.

I'd still want to know what other fish exactly you have in the tank before suggesting any additions.

If you know a great place that has neons who will survive long, I'd go with them. They will probably keep a relatively tight school with a betta in the tank.

What bottom dwellers do you have now?
(Yeah, broken record, I know.)

I would also like to know what else you have in this tank before adding anymore fish.

And some people have noted, that schooling fish such as neon tetra's can need as much as groups of 12 or 20 to really "school" with one another, in the sense where they all move in the same motion at the same time (if this is what your looking for.)

i have a Yoyo loach , a albino shark ( not aggressive yet ) swordtails (m and f) 4 skunk catfish , 2 golden algae eaters and one borneo sucker and one striped barb.

i'm not acually wanting to have the fish to swim together ( they can if they want to though)i think i prefer shoaling fish. the xtra fish i'm wanting is to cover the middle and top part of the water.

at the moment i'm thinking :
5 black neons
2 blind cave fish
5 glass bloodfins

You're overstocked as it is.
I would recommend returning your lone barb and your two golden algae eaters or give the striped barb a school and forgo another school.

the reason that there is only one striped barb is because it was with others in my sisters tank but they were really scared cos her shark is aggressive and its mates jumped out and died cos he was really scared i put him in my tank and he is happy now ( not hiding behind anything like in her tank)
