i'm upgrading my 24x12x12 to a 36x18x18 (think that makes it a 43 uk gallon)

i was after some advice about seeting up this new tank.
it is second had and by what i can gather has an external filter. at the moment i have internal filters. so need some advice on cycling/ transfering filters etc..
Also i havent got much room in my house to have both tanks set up at once with i'm guessing could be a bit of a problem. Any advice you could give me i would be very grateful.

If it's coming with an external filter it'll be rather easy. If it's a used filter you might want to take some precautions about steralizing it. Otherwise just run it on your established tanks for 3-4 weeks before putting it on the newly aquired one. That way the filter will have it's bacteria.
Transfering some substrate from the old tank will help build the colonies in the new one as well. And just stock slowly .

what to do with the tanks depends on where you want them. if you are setting up the new tank in a different spot then just set it up, wait a few day's and transfer the fish, water, rocks and gravel from the old to the new.

if the new one is going to be where the old one is i suggest you buy some buckets. place your fish in the buckets with air stones and fill the rest of the buckets with as much water you can salvage. then swap them. when adding new water make sure you declorinate it first.

and have fun because this job will take you a few hours.
