I just got my first "fish" tank... i had water frogs. what fish should i get. I was thinking some neon tetra, and glowlight tetra.

any advice

What size of tank do you have? From your previous post about heaters, I can assume that the tank will be heated.

The main considerations are the size of the tank, your water parameters and of course your own personal likes and dislikes.

Another question if i do get neon and glowlight tetras and put an algae eater in with them would it get to big?

Most "algae" eaters will get too large for a ten gallon tank. There are some smaller species such as Otocinclus that stay small (here's a link to a site that discusses them [link]http://www.otocinclus.com/[link], but they really need a heavily planted tank and in my opinion are not good beginner fish.

I personally think you're better off not adding any type of algae eater fish to this size of tank.
