ok, the goldfish is going back to the store, and left in the tankl will be 1 juvi sunfish who will be released back where my dad got him in the late spring, 1 4in loach, 1 baby angel, and 1 buenos ares tetra, whom will also go back to the store, so, when i go to add the new fish there will only be the loach and angel, any ideas as to what i should stock the rest with? oh, and i want a school of both phanton tetras and the red phantom tetra things just keep that in mind..

Sounds like you've got a pretty good idea of what you're going to get already.
What kind of loach is it? I'd get at least five more of whatever species of loach you have. I had six black phantoms with my angel a while ago. They did really well together. Black skirts are nice, too, but too many dark fish in a tank doesn't look good. What color angel do you have?
I've had swordtails with angelfish, too, and they got along just fine. The red lyretail males are beautiful.
What other fish do you like?

the loach cant have a buddy, he would eat another one like him alive!...he is territorial, and even chases the goldfish if it tries to get a food pellet the loach claims, the loach's mouth is small, and can just barley eat a guppy fry. i want like 6 phantoms, 6 of the other fish (it has 1 bar, looks like a phantom tetra, but is more of a pink/red) and i want to pair up my angel, she is silver with a dark dorselfin and anal fin, and has 2 black bars on her side, she is quite attractive and is about 2-3 inches long including tail, and is about 5-6 inches tall, but she is still tiny

hmm, after a bit of thinking, do think it would better to take the fish in the 55, and put them in an existing 20 high, and the few fish in the 20 high, go into the 20 long? it will be a little bit overstocked, but with extra water changes in the 20 gallons, and take down the 55?

I personally wouldn't put an angel in a 20, even a 20 tall, because they get so big. I don't think a full-grown angel would have enough room to move around in the tank.

its not perminant just for the winter, because i cant afford to have the 55 set up right now, and most breeders keep angels in 10 gallons while waiting to be bred, and are bred in 15 gallons. And the tank is heavely planted, actually she s much more active in htis tank then she was in the 55 gallon, also she is constantly fat guess she found the guppy fry

Angels are -awesome- for getting rid of excess guppy fry.
How big is your angel right now? (And do you have pictures? ) I don't think one season in a 20 sounds too bad.
Yeah, I've heard that breeders put angels in tiny tanks. I'm just saying that I wouldn't do it. I've seen adult angels in 55 gallon tanks that looked completely cramped. *shrug*
Have you had any problems with your angel eating your plants, or does it just ignore 'em?
