Hi!!

About a month ago I got some shrimp for my planted tanks, I don't know which variety there are, what I do know is that they aren't Amano shrimp because the guy who sold them to me told me that these are smaller (still Transparent though).

Well a while ago while I was doing my routine water change, I saw in the siphon these tiny shrimp fighting the current to return to the tank.

I GOT BABY SHRIMPS!!!!

I don't know how these happen I just threw 5 in each tank and actually rarely see them and now I have babies, so I don't know how to care for them, should I do something special? should I feed them anything special? How many aprox. do they have?

As you can tell, I have no idea about shrimp other than they eat algae.

All info will be greatly appreciated.

Congrats Is this a FW or brackish tank? If FW, since you have spawn the shrimp are likely neocaridina sp. or maybe "indian algae shrimp" (caridina:http://www.petshrimp.com/indiashrimp.html) FWIW I think my juvies get enough algae in my shrimp only fuge, but I add a sinking wafer sometimes. I've read that others use crushed flakes or liquifry.

"(still Transparent though)"

Did the seller indicate they'd get color when reaching maturity?

Thanks!

It's FW.

I think those are it, no he didn't tell, but they aren't big at all, and the only color detail i can see in just one is that it has a brownish stripe in his back, other than that they are almost transparent.

They have a betta as a tank mate, but i guess since it's a heavily planted tank they managed to escape, i just saw one though.

It's difficult to pass judgement on your situation without knowing what species you possesss; while some shrimp complete their life cycle entirely within freshwater, the planktonic larvae of many others will die if not provided brackish conditions.

Are your shrimp outwardly similar to ghost shrimp (Palamonetes paludosus and P. kakadiensis)? Under what heading did you obtain them?
