It's also somewhat messy if you don't clean them up right and I think most people were baking them in the oven for a few minutes as well. Cuttle bone for birds and limestone rock also help but can raise your ph. Kent's liquid calcium works great and is 1 calcium product that won't mess with your kh and ph but instead adds calcium in the form measured by gh tests. Just depends how low in calcium your water is and how much money you want to spend to add calcium versus how messy and complicated or simple you want it. Kent liquid calcium will be the easiest and least messy but the highest cost. Egg shells have the highest chance for making a mess but are probably free provided you eat eggs on occasion. |

I am using some Limestone at the moment & as sham suggested, i will continue using it. I will also try Baking Soda & keep away from egg shells, as they will pollute the water most. Thanks alot for your reply's & best regards. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/s8xi5heh/my_photos http://www.geocities.com/s8xi5heh/classic_blue.html http://groups.yahoo.com/group/buzaqq/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

Crushed oystershell is probably good too, loads of koi stockists have it. Last edited by longhairedgit at 28-Nov-2005 04:44 |
