I got a small crab on my aqua, color between red and brown with very small red claws. Do you know anything about aqua crabs? please tell me more about it.

The crab is very shy and hides most of the time, but i've notived that he's a bit territorial and defends his hole wen some fish passes near.

I now know that my crab is a Red Crab, to slow to catch fish, bla bla bla.. but if a fish is sick i better not leave him on the bottom

i have one of those.

It ate my very pretty femail guppy when she was asleep.

It also ate a neon tetra who was looking under the weather.

Then it shed its shell & is twice the size.

Now i feed it frozen lance fish chopped into three, he loves it !!! I runs up to it, gabs a piece in each claw & runs to the top of my fliter where he sits & guards it.

We call him colin.

I was thinkin about getting a frog.

Smaug, i dont know what you have, but i thin you might be best off giving him his own tank, preferably with some way for him to sit out above water as some crabs can drown if not given land access.

For animals, the entire universe has been neatly divided into things to (a) mate with, (b) eat, (c) run away from, and (d) rocks. - Terry Pratchett

Hello,

I have two red claw crabs in my aquarium, they are very amusing to watch! They are cheeky when it comes to feeding time, I caught my crab stealing a whole algae wafer and making a run for it!

Access to the surface is a good idea because they seem to enjoy it. Mine get access by climbing my airlines and resting on the sills of my tank.

I would say make sure you have a hood which has NO escape holes! they are VERY VERY good at escaping!

The best site I have found for Red claw crabs and others of the like is:
http://www.shrimpcrabsandcrayfish.co.uk/

good luck with your crabby and have fun!

P.s they do have a reputation of snatching fish, so be careful on stocking! Alltho I have never had any problems
