Crabs And Heater Cords | |
pizpot Big Fish Posts: 382 Kudos: 82 Votes: 1 Registered: 01-Oct-2002 | I was looking at the heater cord in my crab tank, and I noticed it looked a little copper colored. Yikes. Yes, those claws can do serious damage. He had it down to bare copper. I'm sure that even let moisture into the heater as it was steamy. I'll dry it out and silicone the cord, but while I do, the new heater has a plastic tube around the cord. Doh. |

Moisture will inevitably lead to corrosion, which will lead to heater failure. If you've got the cash, might want to just write it off. Heaters are probably the most important part of an aquarium, and you want them to be dead on. At bare minimum, keep a spare handy for when that one decides it wants to get stuck in the 'on' position and boil the water. |

Last time I had a heater failure I had to rush out and buy one. I was lucky is what I was. P.S. Are those your feet? Have you been asked before? I liked the old pic better. ;-) |
