	Do pennies really work to kill snails??

moondog Moderator The Hobnob-lin Posts: 2676 Kudos: 1038 Votes: 4366 Registered: 30-Sep-2002	yes, pennies work VERY well to kill snails. the best bet is to use US pennies minted before 1982, since they are 99.9% copper and not copper plated zinc. put a few in the filter and your snails will be gone in about a week. leave the pennies in for about a month and all the snail eggs that you didn't get the first time will also be gone. and if you have live plants, your plants should not be harmed "That's the trouble with political jokes in this country... they get elected!" -- Dave Lippman

I think I have also read that there is other ways of getting rid of snails. So maybe if you do a search in the forums on 'Snails' there will pop up lots of stuff. Hopefully I know I'm not much help, but hopefully the searches will be.
