Hello all

When evr i add is some ghost shrimp, they seem to shed immeadiatly, within 15 minutes? Why do they do this. I buy them in 8s and at least 3 shed.

That's very odd... could be coincidence, but I highly doubt that

Maybe something wrong in the water? Temp or pH difference could agitate them maybe?

Maybe the water where you get them from is bad, and when they hit your clean water, they shed?

it happened to me with a few ghost shrimp when i tried raising them. my best guess is that they shed when their water conditions change, but it's just a guess. i never got to experiment with them though, i think my betta ate them all...

Yup, moondog, bettas'll do that

Now that I think of it, one of my crays started shedding right after I cought him... he was still in the bucket an' started shedding an all that watnot

Now that I think back, I remember somebody saying something about shrimp an' crays an' crabs an' stuff will shed when they're stressed... I don't remember why they do, but I remember somebody saying that they did

How did you acclimate them, fishy?

It's not a coincidence. Shrimp do shed their skin whenever they are acclimated to new conditions but I don't know the reason. It even happens if I move them between tanks that have the same water parameteres.
