I am pretty sure the crabs would eat your fish sorry to say.

fiddler crabs are brackish water, need land access, and are predatory. the only fish fiddlers can go with are brackish water fish including puffers and larger gobies.

Actually, nearly all filders can be raised in FW without any ill effect. Also, they are generally detritus feeders, not preadators. That isn't to say they won't snap at your fish, but most are fairly docile.

i had two fiddle crabs with two piranhas. the fish have to be bigger the the crab other wise the crab may attack the fish. i watched in shock as a fiddler attacked and killed a feeder goldfish. its a tough call, but the fiddler will attack a small fish that gets to close

I used to keep a fiddler in my 20 gallon with small tetras and cories. As far as I know, the little bugger never killed anything. Perhaps you have a different species of crab, as, IME, it is impossible for a fiddler to kill a goldfish of similar length, as their functional claws are absolutely tiny. The larger, intimmidating-looking claw is only for show amongst males, and is very weak--to the point where it is physically impossible for it to restrain a fish long enough for the fiddler to eat it.

I too keep my fiddler crabs with corys and tetras, and they have never once showed unprovoked aggression or predatory behavior to any of the fish. In fact, it is the fish who harrass the crabs when they are trying to eat algae.

Their large claw is suprisingly weak, and the most they can do with it is suddenly push it outwards to "punch" the fish. The claw cannot even open wide enough to pinch a fish.

They will not hesitate to attack fish that are already dying, however.[/font]

If you get a crab, make sure you have some where it can get out of the water if it wants. And a tight fitting lid is a must, or he/she may decide to take a stroll around the house.

One question..i have read that the fiddler crab only lives 1-2 months in a freshwater tank..is this true? If it is then i will surely not buy one.You have any other suggestion to have in my tank?

As TheGoldenDojo said, fiddler crabs need brackish water. I think LFS chains just don't know any better, so they put the crabs in freshwater tanks, reducing their health.

They do prefer some sort of land access. As for the salt, I can only vouch for myself, but my fiddler has lived in FW for over a year now.
