Inkling Fish Addict Posts: 689 Kudos: 498 Votes: 11 Registered: 07-Dec-2005 | It took forever, but I finally sexed my apple snails. 1x Gold (M) 2x White (M) I think this explains why they arnt multiplying I have a 10g, which they share with some pest snails, and occassionally a betta or two, but generally they have the tank to them selves. I think I'll add some more. How many should I add and how should I go about adding them? I Baby Snails Inky |

Male brigs will breed with anything anytime and there have been cases where a male rode around on a females shell trying to mate for so long that the female starved to death or was pulled from her shell when climbing up the glass. There's also been a few females who just got tired of it and slammed the males into the glass enough their shells cracked. It's much better to have 2 females to 1 male in a 10g or an even ratio. Alot of snail breeders keep a tank just to toss over eager males into when they won't leave the females alone for days at a time. Maybe you could trade your 2 white snails for 2 more snails that might be female. That way you'd always have a gold crossing with a white. White crossed with white will always give you more white snails so it's not a very desirable pairing unless you can produce solid white snails. Most white snails get tainted yellow by minerals in the water as they grow so if you can raise fully grown solid white snails they sell quite well on aquabid and similar places. |

Im rather attached to them. What if I move my gold into one of the betta tanks again? I have several 1-2 gals that he would be happy in for awhile. Id put him in my other 10-15g, but hes been known to corner guppies. I don't think I could put him in 46g Mbuna tank, could I? Inky |
