I just bought my first crayfish and am wondering what i could use from home to cover the small opening in the back of my tank to prevent them from crawling out? I was told to use a mesh, but i don't have anything like that. Any other ideas? I just need something to hold me over for a few days until i can get the proper covering. What is the correct stuff to use? Also, any other info on crayfish would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Crawdads are nocturnal, and they will not hesitate to grab a fishy meal while the 'meals' are asleep. For a temporary covering, you could just strech out a piece of pantyhose or something. I guess that would work, unless someone says otherwise.

For the time being, i just took a piece of cardboard , poked holes in it, and taped it across the opening. They're already trying to escape. What kind of mesh did they mean? Like a wire mesh? Or a cheesecloth? I never thought about the pantyhose. I could try that. Thanks.

try using the plastic from a clean gallon milk jug. it's cheap, pliable, waterproof, and really easy to cut.

I use Glad Wrap.

Thanks for the suggestions. A family member suggested using a piece of screen from a screen door. It seems to be working well.
