YAY! I think I read somewhere the only place that's been able to successfully breed them was someone in Germany..?

I don't even know what I'm doing right! I started off with 8, went down to 3, and now I'm at 10+!

Eeeeeeeeeee! *just wanted to share my good news*

are you sure you have ammanos?. since the reason they are hard to breed is because the fry need to mature in salt water before they climb up stream into fresh water. in there natural settings the fry or eggs are washed down stream into salt water, then they mature and make there way back up stream. breeding ammanos are no problem they have eggs all the time, its getting the fry to mature which is where all the problems occur. you might have grass shrimp or glass shrimp which are confused with amanos all the time and these can breed in freshwater.

From the articale, it never mentioned that the fry need to be in saltwater. Although it did mention adding aquarium salt to help with the moulting.

heres a few articles on breeding Caridina_japonica amano shrimp, most of them mention salt water or brackish water.

heres a picture of a grass shrimp or swamp shrimp, which looks like amanos and somtimes confused with them

http://www.petsforum.com/okcaa/images/shrimp/neocaridina_denticulata.jpg

but by reading most of the articles on breeding there seems to be 2 shrimps that look like amano shrimps one is smaller but will breed in freshwater the other is longer and its young cant survive in freshwater for more then a few weeks. but hard to tell the diffrence between the two until they are fully grown
