Will fiddler crabs mess around with snails?

Will they pick at the snails and try an eat them?

Will fidler crabs leave loaches alone too?

BTW in case it factors in, my snails are huge. Must be something in the water.

my crab leaves everything alone, unless the fish grab hold of what he is eating

i have a red claw crab, spends most his time sitting in his rocks or on the filter outlet

Cool! Thanks for sharing your experiences. I am going to go get one fiddler and maybe one red claw in a few hours to add to my community tank. I think I will hold off on getting the red claw though!

i would guess at there are fresh and marine fiddlers

also i know that even though the claw on the fiddler looks pretty cool, its pathetic, its only used by males to attract a female.

My red claw crab (brett) is the bee's knee's, they let u know when there hungry as they scoot around the gravel looking for food. If a fish did ever die in my tank i know he would eat it, and i would leave the body in there for him to eat.

Feed mine all sort of meat, roast chicken seems to go down well, had a problem with the fish stealing his food though. so i have to put his food on the filter outlet which he can climb onto

I think the snail and the crabs would be fine, but watch out what loaches you picked. I have a mystery snail that is pretty large, and my Queen Botia was eating it slowly, nibbling away at its foot. I took the snail out right away when I saw this.
Botias are known for eating snails.

I have 1 Banded Loach, 2 Kuhli Loaches, and I put my Dojo Loach in there yesterday. Thay all seem docile enough towards the new crabs, and vice versa.

I will be keeping a close watch on them today just to make sure.

It's going good, thanks cols! I wasn't able to watch them as much as I hoped, but I did make the time to check on them more than a few times.

I moved a rock structure near my filter intake so the crabs have no way to get to the top. Unless thay have some magic "powers" to exhibit that I have yet to see, like climbing up glass or free-floating propelling themselves through the water. They can't do either, right?

On a sidenote, since I moved one rock formation, my 10 Neon Tetra's are schooling again. It's weird when they get comfortable with their surroundings after awhile and stop schooling. Then you move one little rock formation that causes some insecurity, and bring them back together.

one of my crabs was able to climb up the filter in tube, out the back of my tank, somehow made it down to the floor. crawled all the way accros my bedroom floor (messy as you like) then made it down a flight of stairs, before my cat found it....

Needless to say all exits are now blocked up so Brett(my red claw crab) cannnot escape.

Did you know that crabs shed there skin to grow?

i am confused- are red clawed crabs considered fiddler crabs?

anyway- i have several red claws in my tank. after i cut all their "ladders" to the real world (climbing out of the tank), they quickly discovered riding the current from the longer bubble wands gets them to the top rather quickly. they are like little houdinis!
