Nerite Snail question | |
spyder Enthusiast Posts: 155 Kudos: 47 Votes: 1 Registered: 08-Mar-2003 | This is a hard one. I have Nerite snails in all my freshwater tanks. Nerite snails are saltwater snails and the ones I have are acclimated to freshwater. I got them from azgardens.com. I've had them a while and I highly recommend them. My question is: I needed to treat one of my tanks with Maroxy, on the fourth day of treatment all the nerite snails, all 12 of them died. I've been searching for answers for this but have found none. Does anyone have any explanation for this? If anyone has Nerite snails in freshwater please remove them before you use Maroxy. Again, I'm looking for anyone who may have some expearience with this, I need an explanation as to what may have happened. |

On the product information guide it says that it is safe for freshwater fish and "most invertebrates", maybe your snails fell into the category of "the rest of the snails that were not included in "Most"". Sorry to hear about your loss but Mardel labs had another product called "coppersafe" that I took back to the store because it said that it was not good for invertabrates that did not have an exosceleton. I'm not claiming to be an expert at the MarOxy but if you didn't have a problem before you started medicating...it only makes sense... I hope your tank is better afterwards besides your loss of snails... |
