Does such products exist? I have a snail explosion in my 16 gallon planted aquarium, and want to be rid once and for all of this scourge.

Bow- Have you tried other techniques, such as putting in a piece of lettuce, and pulling it out when the snails gather? You can also try putting copper pennies in your filter, but only ones that were minted before 1982 . Or if you have the room, get a school of clown/yo yo loaches or some puffers (if they're compatible with the other tank inhabitants), they will eat them right up. It's safer and usually more effective to do these more natural methods. As for chemicals- I've heard that Had-A-Snail just kills you plants, not your snails, but that SnailRid is effective. Or, you could just crush them...good luck, and HTH

EDIT: this should probably be moved to the invert forum...mods?

I've heard that some gouramis will eat snails as well. I haven't been able to try it out, though.

if you can't get a snail eating fish, then you should drop a few pennies in your filter until all the snails are gone. it takes a few days to kill off the majority of the snails, and then if you leave the pennies in for a month or so then all the eggs that haven't hatched yet will also end up dead as well.

Pennies are a no no. They kill fish and not all of them are 100% copper. The best is to set out bait and remove them in the morning or get a snail eating fish.

which fish do they kill? because most of the advice given out by just about anyone i've talked to says that pennies are safe for vertebrates, but deadly for inverts. as long as it's a (US) penny minted before 1982 it will be 100% copper.

This is interesting. I have never heard of using pennies before. I will dig some up that were minted prior to 1982 and stick them in my canister filter. How many would you recommend? Also, would they kill my cardinals, otos, a cory, and plants?
