I got a java fern at petsmart and it apparently came with snails. I've seen two tiny black snails that've been disturbed when i clean the tank. I have no idea which type they are and am not too worried about them. I just want to know if i crushed one, would my fish enjoy it as a snack or ignore it? They're neons, cories, and otos. I am not being mean; I just want to know if I've an opportunity to treat my fish. Thanks.

Also, although I am unconcerned about them, should I be?

Dwarf puffers like snails although they have to be small. Also dwarfs are fin nippers and they might not get along with your fish.

My Yoyo Loaches eat snails & as you might already know, snails are pests & can multiply within a few weeks/months. You might have 2 today & 100 in about a months time. ]:88)

Most likely, if you crush it, they will eat it! If it's a pond snail (very common), it's best to get rid of it now. If it's got a thin, pointed horn shape, it is probably a Malaysian Trumpet Snail, which most seem to feel is beneficial for the substrate of your tank.

Looking at pond snails and MTSs online, I'd say it was closer to a pond snail. Not a perfect match, but this one was tiny and the pics I saw were larger, so maybe. A lucky cory seemed to enjoy it whatever it was.
