I've also had snails come along with just fish, they somehow managed to get scooped up in the water.Have you bought any plants, or any other live additions to the tank lately  If you're not seeing the snails themeselves you might have malaysian trumpet snails (MTS) they burrow in the substrate and come out for lunch @night. No worries though, since they won't eat your plants.^_^  |
