Hey! I was just wondering if it is a good idea to add snails to my pond to eat some of the algae...if not is there a solution other than a Pleco? Thanks

How Much Plant Coverage or shade do you have for your Pond?
Doesnt really matter what help you have for Algae unless you start with atleast 60% plant coverage for your pond..Do you have this much already? If so, then a Pleco is your best bet to assist with your algae, but they will munch on your plants, probably what is holding you back...
If you go the snail route, looking at your current stocking level, I dont see anything that will help keep that snail population in check....I have Koi in mine and I havent noticed any snail increases in my pond other than the few I started with....

Thanks...I dont think we have 60% yet but prob will soon because the water hyacints multipy like crazy. The only reason for not wanting a pleco is because we would have to take him out during the winter and buy a new one each year. Can snails survive the winter? And why do you need 60% plant coverage to get snails?
