im tearing down my 2 foot tank for a restock. the old fish have been found new homes in other tanks ofcourse. im looking to place in there some blue yabbies. what i wanna know is basically everything cos ive never had yabbies before. so here is what im thinking:

natural tap pH is 7.5-7.8 but im thinking as they thrive in pH upto 10 keeping it about 8-8.5 would make life easier esp with carbonate hardness and buffer strength.

what kind of scaping tho? pretty much just caves and rocks? (obviously nothing they can use to climb out of the tank). i know plants wont last long so if any would be floating elodea or java moss

would they prefer if i gave them a bit of room up the top to sit out of water.

what type of filtration would u think worked best? corner filter, UG or internal (i use all three depending on inhabitants). and therefore what kind of current would they prefer? fast or slow?

are they overly sensitive to water condition particularly NH3/NO3

also what of marine salt content? none, some?

also could someone please confirm that the common blue yabby found in most sydney pets stores is the Cherax destructor. every time ive seen a marron in the store they've always been advertised specifically as blue marron, etc. (and also ten times the price).
