I don't know exactly how big that particular crawdad gets, (not more than 4" I should think) but if you have any small fish, your crawdad might make a grab at it, especially in the dark.

Watch any fish that sleep on the bottom. Because they might come up missing!

Adam, a picture of it would help greatly, even google something as similar as you ca, and we can make a stab.

if it can clib up things, it can get fish at all levels. if it has claws, it will likely have a try (tho at its size, its unlikely to be successful with anything larger than a guppy)

I hate to break it to you but it looks to me like a crawfish. ANd they will get bigger. ANd they will eat your fish if you have slow fish or fish that sleep on the bottom.

I have one in my 29 and she ( julie ) has eaten one of my blue tetras. SO just be careful. BUt they are an awsome "fish". ANd plenty worth having. MIne is wild and is from a creek. I caught her at about .5 inches. She is now around 3. I love her. She will get to 4-6 if my memory serves me correct. By that time she will have her own 12 gallon with a couple of feeders. Both ghost shrimp and guppies.

It could be a "big armed" (Macrobrachium) shrimp. I'm not sure what is technically the difference between shrimp and crayfish, but given the size of it's front arms, your fish may be in danger. Like crayfish, Macrobrachium also will eat fish.

Check out http://www.franksaquarium.com for some more pics of Macrobrachium. The owner of the website also runs a very active yahoo group dedicated to shrimp.

It doesnt look like a machrobrachium to me, the arms are too short and the wrong 'weight'...

It kinda looks like a shrimp, but its a species i'm unfamiliar with, so i'm not sure. It kinda looks like a very tiny crayfish too....

What i can tell you is that its legs look strong enough to climb if it so desires, so make sure you have tight fitting lids.

Is that a tetra swimming up to it? If so, i doupt it will be able to damage them, its pretty spindly in comparison.

I would think it should be fine for a while, but i would seriously consider another tank set up around this little fellow/lass
