I was told by several lfs' that an increase in salinity from 1.005 and up would kill fiddler crabs. I did some reading and experementation and they were wrong (healthy and happy at 1.020). Here is another for y'all. I discovered an egg sack on a female, so I isolated her. THEY HATCHED!! I now have a 6 gallon tank full of tiny fiddler larvae. There is some algae growing in there for them to eat. BTW, everyone I asked said they would not breed in an aquarium. Take that "know-it-alls"!!]

The larvae are so small you can barely see them. I will keep ya'll updated as they grow, though. I think they are about three weeks old now and double their size.

Even if you breed them, it'll be insanely hard raising them. I'd go for the food used to raise brine shrimp if you can get it! I've heard that egg yolk and yeast can also be fed to them, but I'm unsure; you don't want the water getting dirty, that's for sure!

Wow, congratulations, though! I'm sure you're inverts must be REALLY happy in your tank if you've bred them!

And I dunno why they'd say that about the Fiddlers... I see nature shows with them on the beach all the time...

So sorry! I forgot about this thread. Well, they didn't make it. I'm guessing it was the improper feeding, or the filtration. I tried a bubbler with frequent, small water changes, but I guess it wasn't enough. Sorry about the lack of photos... no digital camera at the time. Again, so sorry to disappoint.
