getting rid of snails | |
Angel Fingerling Posts: 30 Kudos: 18 Votes: 0 Registered: 22-Mar-2004 | how do i dispose(kill) them?? i have a 10g 2 mysterious ones showed up, i think they were a christmas surprise, but now there's tooo many they are taking over my tank. they are laying eggs and i keep scraping them off the glass, but the ones i already have.... do i pick them out and let them dry out or can i feed them to other fish?? they are in a tank with tetra's so no ones' touching them......maybe i could get a betta will he eat them?? |

I think the best idea would be to get a small glass vile (tube) and put a piece of lettuce in it... leave it in there over night... In the morning a ton of babel snails should be in the tube... Shake the tube over your garbage can and your done. |

sumthin_fishy Enthusiast Posts: 237 Kudos: 314 Votes: 16 Registered: 13-Aug-2004 | i use to have heaps of ramhorn snails and my female betta made light work of them, it was quite entertaining watching her stalk them! but apparently not everyone has the same success with female bettas. iv also heard of people putting a few pennys in their filter, the copper kills them but iv never tried this myself. its amazing how often this question comes up! hmmm sounds like someone should write something about this in the article section! |

He grabbed the top of their shell in his lip so it was flipped upside down, and sucked the meat right out! It was awesome to watch. Put a slice of zucchini or cucumber down.
