you will soon discover that the female ghost shrimp are egg laden on a regular basis- being transparent does have its drawbacks. that is the easy part.

the fry are somewhat difficult to intentionally raise. they are VERY tiny, almost invisible. the only time they have grown to adulthood in my care was when they were breeding in my 10gal "pond tank." it was pond/tap water, unfiltered, and kept in direct sunlight. the water was so green, you could not see through it. duckweed covered the top. however, it was teeming with various micro-pond critters. i never fed them, and i was constantly seeing ghost shrimp of various sizes peeking out of the glass.

obviously, they do try to breed in filtered community tanks. either (take your pick- this is just my opinion/experience) the eggs are eaten, the filters suck up the fry, or the fry have no adequate food source.

congrats on finding this awesome website- and good luck with your endeavor.

Never tried to do it, but I have a feeling that with the 3 danios you might have some trouble.
If they're anything like the danios I have nothing really stands a chance of surviving to adult hood...danios just find a way of gettting every little bit of anything that'll fit in their mouths.

danios are a little big for a 2g tank. zebras grow to 3" apiece.

Giant danios are different than zebras Giants actually get quite big, getting about 5 inches long.

Anyways..... Yes, zebra danios aren't a good choice for fish in a 2 gallon.

And yes, ghost shrimp can breed in aquariums.

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,
So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.

The thought of an LFS that doesn't know anything about giant danios (an extremely common species) frightens me.

there is one lady working there that i love to mess with. her suggestions on fish compatability are rather amusing. she also has no clue about stocking levels, and i have watched her sell a new tank and fish for it at the same time.

in her defense, i only see here there about an hour prior to closing. i get the impression that see normally works in another dept and subs in the fish section when most of the other employees go home. you would think she would say so instead of making stuff up.

yes, i did speak to management about her. their turnover is high, and the newbies get "on the job training." i wish i knew where the managers get their training.

the last time i was there, she spent 45 minutes netting a dozen rummynoses my son handpicked from a huge tank of them. she did not say a word when i said they were going to keep his goldfish company in a bowl.

"let the buyer beware"
