The guppies will breed so fast that it will be impossible for the crayfish to dent the population. The science room in my mom's school has a tank set up like this and the crayfish might take a guppy or two, but it is impossible to tell. |

Also, it makes it alot more difficult for the crayfish to climb, eat, and move around like they normally would. Please do not put rubberbands on them... |

In addition, long-term constriction of the chelae would likely spur fatal molting complications or muscular/exoskeletal atrophy. As I understand it, the lobsters of live seafood familiarity are purged via starvation through their stint in the display tank (the rubber bands also serve to preclude fighting-induced degradation of outward quality [as loss of limbs] and thus ensure marketability to customers, cannibalism [and thus loss of revenue], and consumption of the blue crabs typically housed in the same tanks). I know that several species of community-suitable dwarf crayfish that could suit your purpose are available in the aquarium trade. Oh yea, almost forgot about that little guy. But, having any crayfish is still a risk no matter their size. They all have an aggressive temperment. |
