I need to get some snails breeding for my dwarf puffers so I picked up a few pest/pond snails at a lcs. I put a couple in my fiddler crab tank but I think they ate them

All my other tanks have snail-eating loaches except one, which is a 5g Mini-bow with half a dozen guppy fry. The tank is heated, has a jungle of floating hornwort, and some river pebbles on the bottom. I've actually seen eggs but the problem is I never see snails after that. I make sure not to clean sides where the eggs are so I don't destroy them...is there something I'm doing wrong?

My puffers and I thank you for any help you can offer

Do a gravel vac on the tank, and dig down deep...
I find that the snails then end up on top of the gravel, and are easily seen. I think the problem is, is that you want the snails...now start thinking in the lines that you don't want them, that they are pesty, and evil little things, that eat plants...Get some smaller pesty snails throw them into the fry tank, and ignore them for a bit, before you know what is going on you'll be ticked that they are taking over the tank]:| Best of luck...heidi

I breed them for my figure 8.

What I did was buy a cheep 1 gal tank, add some rocks, a cheep sword plant, and throw in a alge wafer every other day.

I started out with 10 now I've got around 50!

I've never had problems before, that's what I don't understand. I hadn't really thought about them being on the bottom. The tank doesn't have gravel, just half a dozen or so river pebbles since it's a fry tank, they poop a lot, and it makes it easier to clean. I may be getting rid of baby snails though when I'm getting rid of the other stuff.

Overfeed. You should see snails popping up in no time.

I have tons of snails! i wish i could give some to you! My snails breed like crazy! I agree to get a little tank and stick a airstone in it and buy some plants, you will have snails in no time, all petstores have snails on their plants.
