I have a lobster in my 125g uk Cichlid set up but he always seems hungry ... At the moment the tank get flake & foloating pelets every day, river shrimp every other day & on the days that are every other to that they get frozen bloodworm also one day a week they get live bloodworm & one day per week either brine shrimp or daphnia.

Should I be feeding something bigger? or more often? At the moment Larry (the lobster) comes out looking for food every feeding time but doesn't seem to catch much - maybe 2 shrimp per day.

Any help would be great.

Thank you.

Chickend would be a cool thing if your cichlids dont eat it first otherwise frozen bloodworms/ brine shrimp, baby guppies. Anything thats meaty that can get to him hell most likely eat. And i've never heard of lobsters eat vegabtables.

At the store, the only thing that's kept with our crays are arowanas, and they sure as heck aren't the ones chewing up the elodea.

They are big on veggies, they are opportunistic meat eaters.

Try zucchini on a rock, or giving it some plants to destroy.

Also, are you positive its eating it all and not hiding it?

The highish temperature will be increasing its metabolism, so it will eat more and grow faster in a shorter period of time than one in cooler water.

He does hoard river shrimp in a cave under a rock & keeps them alive - I think he might be a she & think they're babies? He eats every thing else his fave is sinking algea waffers. I've gone out this morning for some seaweed as I have two parrotfish who are suppossed to like it but so far only my baby pufferfish has gone near it.

I'm glad its ok to give him veggies I was just afraid that if he's always hungry he'd go for my fish. He was very shy when I got him but this last month he's running around like no-ones business!

Ahh, veggies will be fine i gave mine some zucchini last night, he has torn it to bits in the process of eating it (i think she is trying to get microorganisms to grow on it, according to my texts) and now ther are little green bits on my filter intake she isnt quite so messy with shrimp or worms, but she does love ripping at her veggies, so i dont hind

Just as an aside, that's quite unlikely, as very young crayfish (full miniatures of adults) cling to the abdominal limbs of the female for the first segments of their lives, and are afterwards often cannibalized (both within captive systems and in nature).
