I know that people like to auction them off at aquabid.com.. I got a whole sack full of them from one of the ladies that sell from there, so that's the first place I'd check if you were looking to purchase online..

Good Luck with it..

why are these guys so hard to find? from what i read they're rather beneficial to aquariums... besides being quick multipliers... but i have loaches to keep the numbers in check... so i dont understand why mor eplaces dont carry them

They're incredibly easy to find here.. My LFS gives them to me for free when I come in.. Pretty much any LFS or LPS that carries live plants would probably have them in a few tanks..

I know I'm suggesting something you've probably already tried, but maybe give a look thru the phone book and call a few other stores.. I find it hard to believe that nobody would have the snails in their stock tanks.. If that doesn't work, maybe you can look up an area freshwater aquarist club.. You never know, you may find someone that would be willing to part with them that way..

Again, Good Luck..

I have a bunch in my sanded freshwater tanks. I live in Virginia and got my starters from a LFS. If you live relatively close I could probably mail you a handful. Never done that before though, so I can't guarantee they'd make it (but geez, they're snails - impervious to nuclear attack it seems...)

If you've got Loaches they'll never get started. I have MTSs in a most of my tanks and I've put alot into the tank with the loaches and they've never made it long enough to reproduce.

Best bet is if you have another tank without loaches get them going there.

Where do you live, someone on here may be close enough to get some to you.

i live in northeastern NJ. i actually do have another tank to get them started in, a 10 gallon that's just running with a bunch of hornwort and anubias in it. i figure let them hang out in there for a while, breed a bit, then introduce a bunch to my main tank and see if they can get going, while leaving a few in the ten gallon in case they cant keep up with the loaches. but who knows with the loaches - ive heard that sometimes they wont even eat snails, or that it takes them a while to figure out that snails are food.
