I have a 40+ betta fry who are 5 weeks old. They are being kept in a 10g tank. I am not sure whether it is enough for them or should I move to a larger tank?

If you have something bigger, it will be much more better, so they will have alot of space to grow.

What If I divide the batch i.e. I select the largest from the smallest and place them in another tank, would that be ok?

i would divide by 10s then, but when they get larger you will need to get a larger tank, so a 55 is better long term. bettter than having 7 10 gallons around.

"If you have something bigger, it will be much more better"

Do you really want all those fry? Can you house them all? If not, this might be the time to start culling, especially if there are any fry with defects.
