I found this tank
http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441776904&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302030099&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023693&bmUID=1131910403711
and am thinking of getting 2 of them to put a betta in. Is there ANYTHING that will work in here with a betta that will serve the purpose of the betta having a companion?? I really dont want him/her to be alone. Right now I am just setting my sites on keeping bettas and my cherries. Yes, I have others, but for the long run, I want to focus on the two. Im pretty good with doing water changes and tank maintennance. I cant see to keep my hands out of a tank! I even have a gravel vac that will work for the bottom. I know the whole i inch of fish per gallon thing or lesss in some cases but I donmt want him/her to be alone. So no screaming at me...please

I generally wouldn't put anything else with a betta in a one gallon... a two gallon, maybe, but even that is pushing it. The fact is that most betta companions need more space than a betta will accept.

what about a very young fry? like a few months/weeks old??
well now that I think about it, that wouldnt really work either. The fry would need to be in a good stabalized tank to grow up healthy. I have one lil special fry Im keeping on eye on. It is at most 3 weeks old and is already orange!!! Neat!

A snail you say.....OH NO!!! Very scared of snials!!
Yeah the two gallons are twice the price of the one.

get ghost shrimps, they serve to purposes, 1) food sorce 2) good for the tank, so that way u can't lose. depending on the tanks filter, FW clams like golden clams could be great for that tank, in keeping the water in good condition. as with other fish, i would say it is best to keep alone, most tetras/barbs will need a school, and in that a school isn't not going to fit. so either get another betta to put into another tank like that, so they can flare to eachother, or nothing.

If you want your betta to have a companion of sorts, go ahead and get the two or three or uh four tanks and put them near each other, then they will have friends and still be good to go in the 1 gallon

a few of us have this set up:-S

I dont have any where to sit two tanks side by side. Heck Im having to move stuff just to find outlet room! You all know how it is!!

I found a few on Ebay that are new in the box.
2 gallons. If I did that, Id have to sit them by themselves but then could have a little extra room for a mate. Or I may go bigger with a 7.

just a helpful tip, if u dont already get those power plugs, usually around 12 inches long with many outlits that plug into one, gives u more space to house all tank stuff.

anywoo, there are those hexagon betta tanks that can hold 1-4 bettas, but the draw back is glass(this is my opition) and i hate glass, anyway, it doesn't kill the fish to be alone, just a simple exercise infront of a mirror for 15 mins a day, will provide him with the mental as well as physical exercise he will need for that day.
