First though, try and observe the pearls at your lfs. Pick out the most peaceful ones, and try to get more females than males (if they are old enough to sex). Male gouramis tend to be more aggressive than females, though that depends on the individual personality of the fish. |

And males are more aggressive, not only with gouramis but with other labyrinths as well.
