Adapting Paradise Fish to New Home | |
Hooktor Fish Addict Posts: 646 Kudos: 651 Votes: 67 Registered: 22-Mar-2004 | My male paradise fish is really being a big bully to my female and i feel horrible for her. My teacher has a tank that is about 40 gallons that she can have all to herself. But the tank is not heated. I know that paradise fish can live in a cooler enviorment but i was wondering what is the best way to adjust her. My tank is at about 80°, and in the classroom the temperature is about 73°. I hate to see her go, but i know she will have a better life, and i will get to see her whenever i want... |

Leave the bag floating for 20 min & then add some water with 10 minutes interval. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/s8xi5heh/my_photos http://www.geocities.com/s8xi5heh/classic_blue.html http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

Or if it's at all possible to drop the temp of your tank 2 degrees a day till it's around 76ish then raise it up again later you'll get it ajusted down better. Otherwise just go with the new fish way, use the largest transport bag you've got, and a cooler or styro box for transport. ^_^[hr width='40%'] The life, the love, You die to heal. If there is no temp control, you could have one very very cold fish, or a boiled fish....eeek! Ask your mom for a larger tank....maybe a 10 gallon? If you only have a 2 gallon, that's a whole lot of fish with a not a lot of room. The male is probably getting mad cuz the female is in his personal "bubble". Get a cheaper 10 gal (Chain dept. stores are VERY reasonable and come with the filters and heaters sometimes!) Get some plants and rocks/hiding places and the female and male can hide whenever they feel purturbed. You would enjoy a "larger" but still small (for your mom's sake) tank. YAY! good luck, Tina I've got a fever... and the only presc |

Btw, i have given fish to my school before and they are great. My school has summer school and has people working there year round, including science teachers specifically designated to taking care of all the animals so i am sure that they would be in no danger.
