Advice on Dwarf Gourami | |
sly Big Fish Posts: 377 Kudos: 251 Votes: 0 Registered: 22-Jun-2004 | I"m thinking of getting a pair (1 male and 1 female). Would they be peaceful in my tank? 30 gallon (36L, 12W, 16H) -6 Leopard Cories -2 Bolivian Rams -4 Amano Shrimps I keep reading contracting comments that males dwarf would kill their wives while others say they will be peaceful together. |

Some are just peaceful, and won't try to attack the female. Others are extremely aggressive. I had a dwarf gourami pair, and the male killed the female. If you want to play it safe and minimalize the chance of the male picking on the female too much, get a trio (1M/2F). He could spread his aggression over two females. HTH |

Will they swim/school together? Or only the pair? I'll post some pics later on. [span class="edited"][Edited by sly 2004-08-07 18:24][/span] |

solublefish Fish Addict Posts: 562 Kudos: 850 Votes: 40 Registered: 27-Feb-2004 | Glad I could help you. Gouramis are not schooling fish, but as you can see the male will swim up to the females and be quite interested in them. If you want to help your females out even more, try to add even more plants and hiding spaces. The red ones are gorgeous. Glad you like them. |
