Is it necessary for the health of the betta to keep a air pump running with 100% weekly water changes in a one gallon tank.Thanks.

You dont need an air pump. It just disturbs the surface of the water, from which the betta constantly breathes from. Bettas like still water anyways.

You dont need an air pump for the fish but you do need it for water quolity, just keep it on low as not to disterb the water serfice to much.

I don't use an air pump in my bettas 1 gallon tank, but I clean it twice a week. This keeps him happy.

air pumps are not necessary, but a small filter and heater would be a great benefit. If no filter is being used, i'd recommend doing 100% water changes every week. Just remember to use a water conditioner and a good quality food.
