I NOW HAVE A FEMALE BETTA IN A 10 GALLON COMMUNITY AQUARIUM AND ITS FINS ARE GETTING PICKED AT . I AM THINKING OF GETTING A FIVE GALLON TANK WITH HEATER AND FILTER, TO PUT HER IN WITH 3 OR 4 ALBINO CORRYS. DOES ANYONE THINK IT WOULD BE OVER CROWED? AND WOULD HER FINS GROW BACK ? THANKS FOR ANY REPLY IN ADVANCE.

Well, first off, what else is in the tank with the betta girl right now?

As for the five gallon tank... excellent idea. For that, you could try a pair of cherry barbs in with her, or african dwarf frogs (NOT clawed frogs), or perhaps a few other choices. Albino cories get far too large for a five gallon aquarium... I wouldn't even put them in a ten gallon. Truthfully, I wouldn't put any cory in a five gallon.

Yes, her fins should grow back. To promote the healing process, you can use Melafix. That should also prevent any infections.

P.S. Might want to check that little problem you seem to have with the caps lock button. It reads easier if it's not all caps.

Good luck!

Edit: Maybe a mod could move this thread? It would be better off in the labyrinth lounge, methinks.

Thanks for the info. Sorry for the CAPS lock, I wont do it no more I promise . I actually meant panda corrys because they only grow to one and a half inches. how much does a thing of Melfax cost?

Hmm... well, the issue with cories is that the smaller they are, the more they tend to want company. I still wouldn't put any cory in a five gallon tank... there's simply not enough floor space for a decent school. I have my pandas in a twenty long, and I can't imagine them doing that well in anything less than a ten gallon.. they're pretty active little guys.

Ooo... you could try ghost shrimp if you're looking for a bottom feeder. Well, you could do any small-ish shrimp, really, but I suggest ghost because they're cheap... don't know how aggressive your betta girl is, but some are known to pick at shrimp, so you want to start cheap.

As for Melafix, depends on where you go... you can probably get a small bottle for less than five bucks (I tend to get the big bottles... I've got a lot of fish ). Make sure you follow the instructions... too much can do more harm than good.

Yep, melafix is all organic and safe for your fishies. ( Unless the bottle says otherwise...I've never had a problem with it.)

The problem with suggesting tankmates for bettas is that so much depends on temperament. Without observing your betta, I can't give a definitive answer. What I CAN tell you is that you want no more than two or three other fish in there. And all of them should be smaller than the betta. No schooling fish (not enough room), and nothing so small that it will be eaten. No nippy fish either.
