I am taking care of about 6 betas for a friend going out of town, however I have to leave for a few days (Tue-Fri). Will the fish be OK. Can I feed them really good before I leave. Thanks.

They have no idea. Is changing the water in a beta tank/bowl the same as doing it in other aquariums?

if your talking about using a Conditioner to treat the water, Yes...Since they are in Bowls, just do a 100% water change on each and add a couple drops of Conditioner before you leave...then Feed,...Hope your Friend isnt a member and reads these....ha

A tip on 100% changes: find a small cup (like the ones bettas are sold in from LCSs), tilt it slightly and push the bottom edge under the surface of the water. Wait for the betta to come to the surface, then press the top edge of the cup down when he comes near. *schloop!* Right into the cup he goes. You can also fill the cup (or small container) with tank water, net the betta and deposit him. Removing the fish from the tank makes the cleaning go so much faster.

What I do is simply dump the water down the sink, then repeatedly fill with a bit of water, swish and dump again, until there's no more waste coming from the substrate. Assuming there IS substrate and no living plants, of course. I just rinse the fake plants I use in hot water and scrub at them a bit if there's algae build up. I can change the water for my four betta boys in about half an hour or a bit more and they have two gallon tanks. *shrugs*

~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~

Hi-5 Kitten..that's just how i do it..I have 6-2.5 gal. with a male in each one. Very easy to keep your Bettas happy with about a half-an-hour of getting your hands wet.

w00t! I do the same thing ^_^

Ah, if you're going out of town, be absolutly sure that you don't overfeed them when you're leaving, or it'll hurt the water quality being gone so long after a waterchange

Do the water change after the feeding, unless your going to be to busy. Just make sure you don't feed to much that the water gets dirty from rotting food.
