Beta's missed feedings | |
Gills Hobbyist Posts: 53 Kudos: 41 Votes: 0 Registered: 06-May-2004 | I am taking care of about 6 betas for a friend going out of town, however I have to leave for a few days (Tue-Fri). Will the fish be OK. Can I feed them really good before I leave. Thanks. |

Posts: 2266 Kudos: 2194 Votes: 19 Registered: 18-Nov-2003 | A tip on 100% changes: find a small cup (like the ones bettas are sold in from LCSs), tilt it slightly and push the bottom edge under the surface of the water. Wait for the betta to come to the surface, then press the top edge of the cup down when he comes near. *schloop!* Right into the cup he goes. You can also fill the cup (or small container) with tank water, net the betta and deposit him. Removing the fish from the tank makes the cleaning go so much faster. What I do is simply dump the water down the sink, then repeatedly fill with a bit of water, swish and dump again, until there's no more waste coming from the substrate. Assuming there IS substrate and no living plants, of course. I just rinse the fake plants I use in hot water and scrub at them a bit if there's algae build up. I can change the water for my four betta boys in about half an hour or a bit more and they have two gallon tanks. *shrugs* ~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |

seedkiros Mega Fish Posts: 974 Kudos: 270 Votes: 8 Registered: 07-Mar-2003 | Do the water change after the feeding, unless your going to be to busy. Just make sure you don't feed to much that the water gets dirty from rotting food. |
