Betta Breeding Experiment, What Will I Get? | |
fishyhelper288 Fish Guru Posts: 2161 Kudos: 1951 Votes: 137 Registered: 29-Feb-2004 | ok, i am planing on breeding 2 pairs at one (i say planning, becasue sometimes they dont want to)ok, the first pair is a given, 2 blues with back genes (not related in any way) this next pair, well, is my odd couple of the begining of this breeding season a copper gold X black/red male female she isnt as dark as she usualy is in htis pic, for one she is stressed and for two, the light is very bright and turns her very pale..also the flash dident help |

What type of black are they carrying and are they steel, royal or multi blue? I don't know if i'd call the male copper gold, I think I'd be leaning towards red gold. I'm undecided as he looks a bit bleached, but he doesn't look like what i'd call CG really, even then. I'd say you'd get me |

fishyhelper288 Fish Guru Posts: 2161 Kudos: 1951 Votes: 137 Registered: 29-Feb-2004 | the coppery male pics were taked without a flash, but his color has changed some now, i will see is him and his girlfriend will sit still long enough to pose for me.. with the blues, i suspect some nice royal blues, possibly some steel blues, and either black carriers, or atleast dark coloring, the female is deff a black carrier (her mother was black crowntail, her father a blue comb tail) she also has black one her, the male is also a black carrier, her sister is black, and i saw another sister last minuet that was blacker (dident see her in time) so, i will cross my fingers for a large spawn with black involved but, i will work on pics |

bettachris Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3875 Kudos: 4173 Votes: 452 Registered: 13-Jun-2004 | again "black" is a very general color, and the gene is maybe present, but dont expect alot of the fry to have it, unless you are breeding two "Blacks" and again, the "black" will probably be over masked by other colors, and getting a pure "black" would be little to none, just like breeding whites. with the copper, i was never really into coppers, s i am going with your word on this,like calla said, what ever the main co,lor is expect alot of red wash as both of the parents have them. |

fishyhelper288 Fish Guru Posts: 2161 Kudos: 1951 Votes: 137 Registered: 29-Feb-2004 | oh, im not expecting a pure black, just for the fish to show some sign of black, but now i realy with more from my last spawn survived i would have loved to see what else i had but, im gunna try extra super duper hard to keep these babies alive, i mean the very first time i spawned my bettas (and knew about it "sorry mr.fishy" ) i dident do much with them, just kept the tank clean and fed them crushed flake (a winter spawn) and i would have had over 30 survive! but, somehting happened, and slowly they died off, that was realy sad, alot of them were going to be red, or cambos, atleast i got alot of pictures of them |

bettachris Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3875 Kudos: 4173 Votes: 452 Registered: 13-Jun-2004 | just with breeding non melanos black lace have many genes, i bred one during the summer and got what looked like an albino, as well as a few yellow fry from two black lace parents. unfort, they all died b4 i got to see the final result. i know how you feel about the dfry, it does get to u and lack of care is most likely the result, but just dont go to crazy about this. |
