Bellydancer Fingerling Posts: 31 Kudos: 21 Votes: 0 Registered: 08-Sep-2004 | I'm surprised your male betta will live with 2 gouramis. My female betta really didn't like my gourami, but they kind of ignore each other now (they're in a 33 gallon tank). I don't think my males would tolerate them |

sham Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3369 Kudos: 2782 Votes: 98 Registered: 21-Apr-2004 | .. betta do not breed with gouramis. Snails won't eat labyrinth fish eggs anyway since I do have applesnails in my tanks and have about 800 paradise fish fry. Betta and gourami eggs are in bubblenests at the top of the tank. If you did have fry then you probably have a male and female gourami and the betta probably ate the fry. Your kuhli would love more company and would be more active. I don't think the neons or your labyrinth fish will be happy with this idea but good luck. |

sham Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3369 Kudos: 2782 Votes: 98 Registered: 21-Apr-2004 | The betta and gouramis should not have been put together in the first place but since it works I guess I'd leave them together. You have no space in a 10g for more middle-top swimming fish if any fish. Tetras and schooling fish are out with no room to make a good school or space for them to swim. Guppies.. swordtails... so forth won't have a whole lot of room either and they may get attacked by or nip at the betta. Whether there's space for a cory school is debatable but could probably be done. Myself I'd toss in a few applesnails and call it done. Maybe khulii loaches or a few otos? yoyos really need at least a pair and they are very active taking up probably more swimming room than my congo tetras. My opinion is you got lucky your betta and gouramis get along and you should leave it alone before someone feels cramped and starts fighting for territory. |

Janna Mega Fish Posts: 1386 Registered: 24-Aug-2003 | What does a 10 gallon for feeders have to do with tankmates for your bettas? Besides, you shouldn't add any more to that tank. The stock of it is already badly thought out. EDIT: Like you said: royal cichlid (08/10/04 01:18): guppies can survive equally as long in BW as SW Real promising. Janna Mega Fish Posts: 1386 Registered: 24-Aug-2003 | I'm not going to go into the brackish guppy thing, since I've already made a poll on it, and quite clearly, you are wrong. Swords just get too big for a 10 gallon, I don't know what having a seperate 10 gallon for them breeding has to do with anything. Janna Mega Fish Posts: 1386 Registered: 24-Aug-2003 | Well, swordtails don't fit in a 10 gallon. Guppies aren't brackish, but their tails would get mutilated by the betta. I'd say you are fully stocked now, what with 3 fish that get about 3 inches long. They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver, So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces. |

royal cichlid Banned Posts: 39 Kudos: 84 Votes: 4 Registered: 02-Jul-2004 | We're getting off the subject people, my betta's and gouramis get along fine, and the reason i want swords is because my cichlids can see them better and they're easier to breed because they're not brakish like guppies |

royal cichlid Banned Posts: 39 Kudos: 84 Votes: 4 Registered: 02-Jul-2004 | What would be some nice fish to put in to a 10g tank with a Male Betta and 2 female dwarf Gourami, the tank is soon to be semiheavily planted. Please help me |

Janna Mega Fish Posts: 1386 Registered: 24-Aug-2003 | It really isn't a good idea to keep bettas and gouramis together, especially in that small of a tank. There isn't enough room for the 2 male gouramis to establish territories, let alone 3 labyrinth fish. I'd just have one of those fish, and then add a school of small cories. That would pretty much stock that 10 gallon. They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver, So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces. |
