I know there is a great debate on this subject, so just to clarify...this is my opinion. I personally wouldn't keep a Betta in anything less than a 2.5 gal. Even that size tank is subject to disagreement. |

Plus, i wean, it seems like DudeX2 wants a sort of tiny community setup, so maybe a divided tank is a bit too 'betta' for him right now. Good suggestion though, i do like the idea of dividers with the right fish |

I would definitely suggest heaters! I myself noticed that the Betta Boys in 2.5 gal Minibow tanks were becoming less and less active --- Bought some Junior Heaters @ Wal Mart and VOILA! My boys' activity abounds!!!! To thine own self be true... |

I would hesitate to purchase a male that wouldn't flare. I would be afraid it was ill. But I do think bringing a mirror with you is a good idea. It allows you to see the male in all his flaring glory. |

Nick Fish Addict 33 Posts: 553 Kudos: 668 Votes: 509 Registered: 09-Aug-2004 | Well it's not a neccesity depending on where the tank will be (In a room where it is climate controlled and temp. never goes below 70 degrees F) but, I would suggest getting one for your 5 gallon. Any temp. less than 75 degrees F could make your Betta become lethargic and possibly stress him/her out and make them sick. A small 25 Watt heater is fairly inexpensive (about 8 U.S. dollars) and is worth it for the price. Good luck Last edited by Jessnick at 25-Jan-2005 21:00 |
