The problem with that is if your are going to go out and buy 2 female Bettas, those particular 2 females might not get along. That's all I was saying. Last edited by Jessnick at 25-Jan-2005 20:32 |

Katies suggestion of apple snails or and african dwarf frog are a good choice! Last edited by Jessnick at 25-Jan-2005 20:16 |

Nick Fish Addict 33 Posts: 553 Kudos: 668 Votes: 509 Registered: 09-Aug-2004 | Are we talking a female or male first of all? A 5 gallon tank probably couldn't handle much more than the Betta alone. Maybe getting a divider for the tank and putting 2 Bettas would be an option for you. Trouble with a 5 gal. tank is they are very hard to successfully achieve and sustain a nitrogen cycle. Even after hearing this advice myself I still thought I could do it, however it's really just not possible. So because of this it's hard to put in a non- labyrinth fish in there. FYI if you choose to put a divider in the tank, you will soon learn they do not make a divider for such a small tank. So what I did was buy a 10 gal. divider and cut it to size. Keep in mind too that if 2 Bettas will be housed or even one for that matter, weekly water changes will be neccesary. Good luck, hope this helped. Not saying your wrong Katie but, keeping 2 females in that tank COULD work. But it is really hit or miss as all Bettas have different and unique personalities. Females that have lived together in the same tank might not react to another the same way. So you are taking your chances on whether or not they will live in peace together. In a five gallon, there really wont be much room for other kinds of fish. Try apple snails or African dwarf frogs I'll do graffiti, If you sing to me in French. |
