I have a betta in a 10 gallon tank with a hob filter. Can somebody give me some ideas of how to stop the water current from knocking my betta all over the tank?

Thanks in advance!

I assume that the filter is turned down all the way. Is there anything you can move in front of the filter output to deflect or slow the current? Or, can you construct a safe haven for the betta, an area where current does not reach?

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

Turned down low? I don't think the type of filter I have can be turned down or up. It's a Regent/Marineland Aqua-Tech filter.

I thought about putting something in front of it, but I didn't know if it would mess with the quality of the water. I guess I'm weird like that.

Thanks you for help! /:'

What I did with the filter on my betta girl tank was to get a piece of filter foam (cheapest you can find, doesn't matter which kind) and cut a strip long enough to fit in the outflow of your filter. Slip a rubber around the output, then fit the foam in there.

Look at [link=http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Technical%20Tinkering/52271.html]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Technical%20Tinkering/52271.html" style="COLOR: #C0C0FF[/link] and a bit down the page you'll see a picture I posted of my setup. Of course, you're not talking about a biowheel, but the same setup should work with most filters, I believe.

As stated above, I would just use something to obstruct the output of the filter.

I..uh..third that.

On my 46 I have a AC filter. I just took the extra piece of foam that came with the filter and wedged it between the filter output and the glass canopy. Works like a charm

I purchased my first betta a couple of days ago. He is in a 15 gallon eclipse tank with other fish. I actually thought I saw him playing in the current. He can easily move to a side where it is "quiet" but he was swimming towards the current, moving back, then swimming against the current again. He did this for about 3 minutes.

I have a strip of calico tied onto one of my cartriges, its more to stop that hideous trickling widdly sound at night, but it does cut the flow

I've also had some bettas (males) that would seem to prefer the part of the tank with the most flow..if your betta is like this, don't worry about it too much.
