Betta in a Hex? | |
Sweetruben Fingerling Posts: 40 Kudos: 19 Votes: 0 Registered: 18-Sep-2005 | Hello! I have a 30 gallon hexagon shaped tank and I was wondering if I could put a betta in there? I was going to have angelfish but the local fish store said the water in my area is not what they like. Now I know bettas breath air and so I dont know if they would like to be in such a tall tank. Any suggestions? I have no fish in there at this time because I recently moved all of my fish into an 80 gallon tank and im looking for just a few fish to put in this one. Thanks! |

Now my tank is pretty heavily planted and it has already been cycled because of the fish I had in there before. They were in there for about a year with no problems at all. Could I add some female bettas as well? What else would be good with one male betta? I am open to any ideas and suggestions. Thank you! |

Females don't always get along, however. You only want to have a female in a tank with a male if you plan to breed them - then take her out so the male does not kill her. With a male betta, you can have cories, about six would work in your 30 gallon - they like to be in groups of the same species, and a school of small tetras - neons, cardinals, lemons, pristellas, or you could have harlies. |

Did they tell you what exactly it is about your water that they wouldn't like? Angels and bettas have similar water requirements-temp, pH, etc. I would just be concerned about the betta having problems...maybe find out what the test results are for your water and plan stock from there? ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

Ok so no females with the male will work. I like corys too so maybe I will look into getting some of those. Thanks! |

Fish tanks are an expensive addiction |
