Betta in a community tank! | |

NOW i whant one But i whant to add him in to my 60 gal community tank, if i add him his tankmates will be Bolivian rams, pearl gourami, opaline gourami, golden angelfish, boesemani rainbow fish, neon tetra,clown pleco, cory, rainbow shark albino, amano shirmp, fan shirmp and some Neritina snail It's a well planted tank with a lot of hiding place and good filtration one eheim canister professional II 2026 and 2 AquaClear 70. It's been setup for about for 7 month now all fishes are doing well and getting along just fine |

Tanya81 Fish Addict Posts: 633 Kudos: 419 Votes: 37 Registered: 27-Jun-2003 | My guess is that there may be a potential problem with the other gourami's that are in the tank, and the betta could see them as competition, and or the other way around, and you could lose some fish. Yeah bettas are peaceful, but they have that "dark" side to them. If you do decide to go along with it, keep a watchful eye, for any signs of damage from fights. fishyhelper288 Fish Guru Posts: 2161 Kudos: 1951 Votes: 137 Registered: 29-Feb-2004 | the problem isnt weither or not the betta wil be the issue, its going to be that the other fish may have a problem with the betta, only way to know is to try it, i have bettas in all my comunity tanks ever sence i started fishkeeping, even when i had tiger barbs, never had anythinig super nippy before either though, but it still plan fish i put in my tanks around bettas, i have a male betta that grew up in a comunity tank, now he is over 2inches long and most likly going to be a butterfly but like i said, only way to know is to try it, if there is a problem, then just set up a sperate tank for the betta hth |
